Barberry health benefits

Barberry is a bush that grows in warmer regions of the world, is used in various Asian & European dishes, has antioxidant properties, as well as is useful for a variety of medical conditions.  It is warned, however, that you should get advice from a medical professional before trying to prevent or treat any medical issues with barberry.

There are specific parts of the plant that are used for medicinal, as well as culinary, purposes; these are the leaves, berries, bark, and roots or stems.  Among the health issues that barberry is used to help, hypertension is on that list.  It also has a strong antiseptic quality.  Barberry has been known to help with bronchial constriction, as well as can be a mild anesthetic.  Here’s a short list of other issues it is known to relieve or cure; Boils, Breath odor, Diarrhea, Dysentery, Gallbladder/Gallstones, Gum disease, Heartburn, Indigestion, Jaundice, Liver conditions, Migraine headaches, Rheumatism, Ringworm, Skin disorders, Sluggish gallbladder, Syphilis, *Typhoid fever. On a more positive note, it alleviates anemia & facets from general malnutrition.  Some of the medical issues that is has been known to help are actually not very common.  Among them are tongue squamous carcinoma (a type of tongue cancer), pancreatic cancer, and non-small cell lung cancer (which is considered unresponsive to chemotherapy).

Even though barberry isn’t a well-known product that can be used for medicinal purposes & benefits doesn’t change all the things it has been known to do.  Nature has a way of creating things; and whether it is used for these purposes doesn’t change the original purpose of the creation.
